VIVA LA MONTAÑA

Viva la montaña! is the loud and enthusiastic shout of a woman being lifted up by a group of people dancing together the Danza del Ibio, a traditional dance of the Cantabrian folklore.

This project is a performative installation representing the Spanish Pavilion at the Prague Quadrennial of Scenography and Scenic Space 2023. Maral Kekejian curated this project together with Maria Buey Gonzalez to design this scenic architecture that incorporates the knowledge of the traditions and folklore of a territory that generate exceptional times and spaces.

VIVA LA MONTAÑA!

Spain Pavilion of the Prague Quadrennial, 2023. Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space

A multidisciplinary team of artists is in charge of giving a contemporary reading to this mountain built of costumes, bodies, and diverse materialities. For this project I was asked to be in charge of the design and creation of the clothing, fabrics and materialities. We have worked creating our own biomaterials made of bread, leaves, nuts, coffee, esparto grass, wool, flowers, seeds, hair ...as well as recycled and manually manipulated fabrics. All of them inspired by diverse costumes and traditions from which we have learned a lot. There are horns of biomaterials of esparto and casein, recycled paper fans, bread hats, bioplastics embroidered by artisans with sequins ....
