ROCÍO Y LAS MARGARITAS

Public Action Fashion show inspired by ornaments, nature, traditions and contemporaneities of Valverde de la Vera and its surroundings, within the marco de Cultura en Vivo.

Traditional ornamental motifs, “picaos”, are applied to both clothing and architecture. The imagery of these abstract and figurative drawings comes from the closest environment; of the landscape, the plants, the birds, the flowers, the butterflies..., as well as personal experiences of the inhabitants. We draw our environment to approach it, but we also bring it through its materiality. The peppers, the lemons, the oranges, the tobacco, the rosemary, the flowers, the wool, the mud, the earth, the vegetable fibers, the straw, the smoke.

Rocío is lying in a field of daisies celebrating her 70th birthday. Daisies surround her, covering her body, like an expanded dress. Clothing is a second skin made of the materiality of the environment, we feel its beauty, also its fragility.

A fashion show is proposed as a shared ritual where we dress and decorate ourselves, a place to tell stories, to celebrate, to take care of ourselves.
